Safeguards & Children Protection

Safeguarding and Child Protection Philosophy

In many schools, ‘safeguarding’ and ‘child protection’ are terms that are used interchangeably; in other educational settings in both the UK and abroad, they are used side by side, as though they are inseparable.

Safeguarding applies to all children, young people and staff working at Saigon Star. Child Protection applies to a group of children who have/are experiencing abuse in their lives.

For the purposes of this policy and to ensure a more transparent, comprehensive approach to our processes, Saigon Star prefers and has opted to use only the term ‘safeguarding’ for all matters relating to ensuring that the children in our community are safe and well cared for. Safeguarding also means we do not make the assumption that ensuring the welfare of children simply means preventing them from coming into harm. As our Mission states, we want all of our children to be ‘safe and successful’, and thus, simply preventing them from not coming to harm is insufficient.
